Wedding Invitations Post-Covid
As the coronavirus pandemic winds down, and group gatherings slowly become a normal part of our daily lives, the entire year ahead will be the “new” wedding season. While some brides and grooms postponed their celebrations, others met during the pandemic and began planning for forever together. We are starting to book invitation orders for the end of 2021, and all of 2022.
How are these invitations different from pre-pandemic invitations?
1. Brides and Grooms are not ordering far in advance, and invitations are largely being mailed out on the later side, necessitating RSVPs by email.
2. Most hosts are sharing COVID protocols and advising guests to check their wedding website to keep up with social gathering requirements in the area of the event. (“Bring proof of a vaccine, or a negative covid test, and wear a mask…”) Ongoing communication has been a necessity here, and will continue to be, until we are clearly out of the woods; the wedding website is no longer optional.
3. Some weddings have two versions of the invitation: one for close family and friends, and another offering the option to attend virtually on Zoom. Guests tend to understand if they receive the latter.
How will the actual weddings be different going forward?
1. Expect to see smaller weddings. It is the year of the “micro wedding.”
2. More outdoor venues will be used, and we expect to see more all-weather tents and heat lamps.
3. PPE will be personalized as wedding giveaways to be used at the events.
4. Hand sanitizer will be plentiful (not to mention elegantly packaged).
5. Wedding videos and photos will include bridal parties and guests donning masks, as a sign of the times.
People have not stopped falling in love, getting married, and sharing their big day with loved ones. The wedding industry is working relentlessly to adjust to the new normal and spread messages of joy and happiness at these blissful events.
